Details

When planning an adventure trip, our experience tells us that what you are looking for is important, that's why for 20 years we have been developing this adventure tour: the famous descent of the Cuesta del Obispo! In Overland Salta, we are passionate about what we do, and we guarantee that descending the Cuesta del Obispo on a mountain bike will be a day full of sensations, an experience hard to forget!

This is a full day excursion, we leave at 8.30 am from Salta Capital (so you should arrive the night before and stay somewhere in the city), we have 2 and 1/2 hours transfer to Piedra del Molino, (Los Cardones National Park (place where the activity starts), once there, we will provide you with all the necessary equipment, such as the mountain bike Venzo Raptor (we will bring you a bike according to your height), helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and reflective vest.
After testing the bike we will give you an instructive talk with all the safety measures and protocol of action. After the safety talk we start the descent, having some photographic stops where we tell you the history of the place.

The descent of the Cuesta del Obispo by mountain bike is much more tan a bike ride, it is an experience where you are the participant, an experience that starts as soon as you contact us, continues the day of the excursion and ends when we show you the pictures.
For this reason we invite you to see the reviews of some of our clients at https://www.tripadvisor.com.ar/Attraction_Review-g312822-d5565565-Reviews-Overland_Salta-Salta_Province_of_Salta_Northern_Argentina.html

We are back in Salta city at 6.30 pm approximately.

From 3457 meters above sea level, at the highest point of Los Cardones National Park, and accompanied by a guide, we start the descent of the Cuesta del Obispo.
The first section consists of a 22 km descent with magnificent views, making technical and photographic stops.

After an hour and a half of pure descent (mostly gravel), you will have lunch at a stop at the foot of the Cuesta.
Then we continue along a 20 km paved road that goes through the Yungas jungle (mountain jungle), where ferns reign along the river that gives origin to the Quebrada de Escoipe.
In this way you descend a total of 43 km with a total difference in altitude of 2240 meters, passing from an arid landscape of puna to the green of the Yungas jungle.
The Cuesta del Obispo is a true natural paradise with curves and counter curves, curls and knots necessary to climb the mountain, which can be seen in a spectacular way in the Piedra del Molino, the place from where the excursion begins.
It is worth mentioning that most of the route is downhill, with some flats and climbs that require some pedaling.
